Monika Minar and Mhairianne Mckeeve making a double tackle

After training hard last season, and leaving on a good note with a win against Ridge meadows, the Rower women are back and, with the taste of victory to chase. With the first try made in 4 minuets after kick off, by Lexis Mok up the sideline, the women were rearing and ready to go. As Sophie Gannon scored another try at the 8 minute mark, it was clear that caps weren’t expecting the rowers to come back with such force after loses last season. Robynne Shannon doing a pick and go, running up the side lines with her incredible speed that makes her untouchable and, one of our top try scorers.

Robynne Shannon ” The nub” running forward into battle

Kerianne Magee was our kicker of the day making some incredble conversions and adding up another 6 points total of the day, on top of that Magee aided in the try of Selmarie “slippery sel” Barnard, who used her speed, scoring yet another try up the sideline. At half time the girls took a moment to reflect on their hard work and remind themselves the battle wasnt over yet, Capilano were fighting back during the second half, making for a messy ball.

Regardless of the messy ball, Sam Quaigo used that to her advantage, intercepting a pass from Capilano to score the rowers another try, the backs were proving their speed and the teamwork was paying off. Ashley Osachuk scored the winning try of the game with several caps players hanging off of her, ending the game with 36 to 33, it was a close game, but the Rowers were ecstatic about their big win vs Capilano

A proud win.
